Privacy Policy for Double or Loose
Last Updated: May 31, 2025
Thank you for playing Double or Loose (“the Game”), developed by John Oxholm Knutsson (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Game.
By downloading, installing, or playing the Game, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Do Not Collect (Directly)
Double or Loose is designed to be a fun and engaging offline experience. We do not currently require you to create an account, and we do not directly collect any personally identifiable information (PII) such as:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your physical address
- Your phone number
- Precise location data
- Contacts or photos from your device
2. Information Collected Automatically (Device & Gameplay)
Like most mobile games, some non-personal information may be collected automatically by the underlying game engine (Godot Engine) or device operating system for essential functioning, such as:
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, screen resolution, language settings. This information is generally aggregated and anonymized and helps us understand the types of devices playing our game for compatibility and optimization purposes.
- Gameplay Data (Locally Stored):
- High Score: Your highest achieved score is stored locally on your device.
- Game Settings: Any settings you configure (like sound effects on/off) are stored locally on your device.
- Saved Game State (if applicable): If you choose to save your game progress (e.g., by using a “Save and Exit” feature), this game state is stored locally on your device. This data includes your current grid, score, and available blocks.
This locally stored data is not transmitted to us or any third parties.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Double or Loose uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is a third-party advertising service provided by Google.
- Data Collected by AdMob: AdMob may collect and use certain data to provide personalized or non-personalized ads. This may include:
- Device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID)
- IP address (which can be used to infer general location)
- Information about your interaction with ads shown in the Game.
- AdMob’s Privacy: We encourage you to review Google’s advertising privacy policy to understand how they collect and use your data: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Opting Out of Personalized Ads: You can usually opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting the settings on your mobile device (e.g., through “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS or “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android). Please refer to your device’s settings or documentation for instructions.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information processed is used for the following purposes:
- To operate and maintain the Game.
- To display advertisements through AdMob, which helps support the continued development of the Game.
- To store your game progress and settings locally on your device for your convenience.
- To understand general usage patterns for game improvement (e.g., device compatibility based on engine-collected data, if any).
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share your locally stored game data (high scores, settings, saved game state) with any third parties.
Information collected by Google AdMob is subject to Google’s privacy policies as linked above. We do not control AdMob’s data collection or usage practices.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation.
- Protect and defend our rights or property.
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Game.
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Game or the public.
6. Data Security
Your gameplay data (high scores, settings, saved games) is stored locally on your device. The security of this data depends on the security of your device. We do not implement additional security measures for this local data beyond what is provided by your device’s operating system.
Please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100
7. Children’s Privacy
Double or Loose is not intentionally designed for or directed at children under the age of 13 (or a higher age if stipulated by local law, e.g., 16 in some GDPR contexts). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under these ages.
- If you are targeting children or your game is likely to appeal to them, you MUST comply with COPPA (in the US) and similar regulations elsewhere (like GDPR-K). This often involves:
- Using AdMob’s child-directed settings for ads (non-personalized, context-only ads).
- Potentially implementing a neutral age screen.
- Having a more detailed children’s privacy section.
- If your game is for children, this current draft is INSUFFICIENT. You need specific legal counsel.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Game or on our associated website/store listing. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
9. Your Consent
By using Double or Loose, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
